You sat there lonely,
A little girl in a big world;
Trying so hard to understand.
A princess seeking her crown,
You waited beside the road;
Watching and waiting...

I came to you in the night,
Holding you in my two arms;
I looked deep within your soul.
I recall your smile the best -
The hope you saw in me.
And I yearned to walk with you,
To take you to my dreams;
But alas...

I could not...

And I still remember you,
Turning to look at me
But one last time;
Before you departed
Into the world...

Such is this life we live -
This path we choose to follow;
So very many faces and places
Along the way.
